Note from founder James Daga Albinson In 2010 The Hamptons Studio of Fine Art (HSFA) was born. After my experience running two other art academies, I felt a need to focus my attention on the local community I know, love, and call home. The Hamptons has a rich artistic history and was a summer home to William Merit Chase-and his Shinnecock Summer School of Art in Southampton-and Thomas Moran, whose studio still stands on Main Street in East Hampton. The island's artistic history is filled with a diverse group of painters-some of whom used traditional methods and others of whom took a more modern approach -but one thing they all shared was the desire to make great art. Many local artists have had to move off the East End to find affordable studio space, but we must keep the gates to the Hamptons open to all the artists that call this beautiful place home. Some are in search of high-level instruction while others need affordable studio space and facilities, but we all need to feel connected by our common goals. HSFA aims to fulfill those needs by offering the best art education possible in a variety of disciplines while providing clean, safe, and affordable studio space. The Hamptons Studio of Fine Art is a community art center open to all, serving all, respecting all, and fulfilling all the needs of the artistic community of the East End. |
